Pregnant in the Pandemic

Pregnant women were placed in a ‘vulnerable group’ by the UK Government in March 2020. This caused many women across the UK worry and concern. Birth plans had to adapt, antenatal classes cancelled and mental health at risk whilst isolating at such a challenging time. The Female Project wanted to capture the strength of mothers-to-be during the Pandemic. Following GOV guidelines to shoot safely we photographed a series of women, along with asking them a few questions about their experiences, to tell their stories of this time.

The Iceland Project

In 2016 we traveled to Iceland and this is where The Female Project was born. Everyone knows Iceland for it’s epic landscapes which we enjoyed with our eyes. As photographers however our interest is primarily with people. Iceland is known as the World’s most feminist country so we wanted to explore this with the females we met while we were there.  We worked collaboratively as photographers and made a series of portraits in Blonduos, Akureyin and Reykjavik.

We invite you to follow our journey.
